The maker's label has long-since vanished, so the origin of my bass is unknown, however, based on the design and craftsmanship, it is estimated to be of a very early 1800s vintage.  Originally a three string bass, it was converted to four at some point in its life.   I was very fortunate to meet my instrument through Pete Lampe, owner of Pete's Bass Shop in Portland, OR.
